The Golden Roast, 825 Melrose Place, is right across from UT’s Massey Hall and convenient to the library. Coffee is hand roasted for the richest flavor and a large Coffee of the Day is only $2.75. Open from 7 a.m. to midnight Monday through Friday and at 8 a.m. on the weekend.
- Coffee & Chocolate, 327 Union Ave., is just east of campus and has a sophisticated vibe, Fair Trade coffees and handmade chocolates and baked goods to go with it. Opens at 8 a.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. on the weekend. Stays open until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, 10 p.m. the rest of the week.
- Pete’s Coffee Shop, 540 Union Ave., is near the University of Tennessee Press at the east end of campus and is a traditional diner specializing in no-nonsense coffee with a side of breakfast or lunch. Open 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
